Construction of an EDEKA Center in Hagen, Zollstraße 2

The site was home to a freight forwarding company and several warehouses. The old commercial halls were demolished to make room for an EDEKA center with ground-level parking spaces as a local supply market for the surrounding residential areas. The site is located near the freight station of the city of Hagen.

The EDEKA Center was built as a 1-story building with a sloping flat roof without a basement. The entrance area was highlighted in terms of design. The building consists of a skeleton construction with reinforced concrete columns and glulam trusses as supporting structure for the roof.

Construction: concrete floor with tile covering and insulation under the floor, the roof construction consists of trapezoidal steel sheets with mineral wool insulation and foil covering on glued wood trusses. The exterior walls consist of masonry walls with ETICS rendering system, partially clad with large-format rear-ventilated Trespa facade panels. The entrance area was made of a post and beam construction with high thermal insulation glazing or closed vacuum panels.
